A toolkit for researchers planning qualitative studies around ID

The toolkit outlines the core methods and tools for qualitative research into ID in the global south. The goal is to develop efficient and ethical practices for those studying the use of identity systems.

“Understanding how people access and use identity credentials and services in their daily lives is an essential step toward building ID systems that are responsive and inclusive.”

It outlines the importance of putting people at the center of research into identity, as this is the first step to developing secure and inclusive ID systems. Particular attention should be paid to vulnerable and marginalized groups, such as women, rural communities, and stateless people.
