Government Sets Out New Plans to Help Build Trust in Use of Digital Identities

The UK government presents draft rules guiding future uses of digital ID

This press release promotes the UK government’s new trust framework outlining the principles, policies, procedures, and standards that organizations are expected to follow when providing identification systems and services.

"The ‘trust framework’ forms part of the government’s commitment to taking a leading role in developing the digital identity market without the need for national identity cards."

With a view to increasing interoperability and public confidence, the government is looking to better standardize and guide future iterations of digital identity in the UK.

The framework, once finalized, is expected to be brought into law. It has specific standards and requirements for organizations which provide or use digital identity services
