Estonia’s economy has hugely benefited from the e-Residency scheme

Around a fifth of new Estonian companies have been founded by e-Residents, with the majority of the scheme’s members originating from the US, Finland, and Sweden.

"Launched in December 2014, the e-Residency program aims to provide safe access to Estonia's e-services, including digital signatures, tax payments, forming and registering companies as noted, and more."

E-residents are able to easily set up a business in Estonia, a country known for its robust digital infrastructure. The participants receive a digital ID card which Estonian’s physical residents also use to access government and other services online.

Around 80,000 e-Residents have signed up so far, establishing 16,000 companies in Estonia
