Digital Identity is Coming of Age in Canada in 2020

Baker quotes Franklin Garrigues, VP Digital Channels for the TD Bank, Michael Magrath, Head of Global Compliance with OneSpan, and Eugenio DiMira, Head of Global Compliance AMLATF Program at Manulife, who all share views on Canada’s digital services and trust verification.

“Canada is moving forward with several initiatives to make it possible for customers to share their identification data held by one organization with another, said Garrigues. For example, with consent, a bank might access a customer’s driver’s license directly with the license bureau.”

Baker reports the North American nation has several identity networks in place and is looking forward to open banking opportunities, which will rely heavily on these trust networks.
