Blockchain-Based Driver’s Licenses Hit the Road in South Korea

Over a million South Koreans have switched to digital driver’s licenses

The licenses are built on blockchain technology, which ensures people’s information is secure and verifiable.

“And the license is not just for road use, it is a legally recognized form of identification that can be used to authenticate an individual’s identity, as well as satisfy proof-of-age requirements where applicable, such as when purchasing controlled goods like alcohol and tobacco.”

South Korea is also in the process of designing blockchain projects that can store data on a decentralized ledger, which could be used to collect health information or create a digital voting system.
